Seafood is Our Heritage
Ocean Beauty Seafoods began in 1910 as a small Seattle seafood shop known as the Washington Fish & Oyster Company. Over a century later, we have grown to become one of the largest and most successful seafood companies in North America. Since our inception, we have always concentrated on two main goals – producing and distributing the best the ocean has to offer.
Our early years were focused on developing our plants in the most abundant seafood-producing areas of Alaska and bringing fresh, frozen, and canned seafood to the Lower 48 and the world.
In the mid-20th century, we began establishing our distribution locations, beginning with Boise in 1957 and Helena in 1964. Portland followed in 1974, Astoria and Salt Lake City in 1982, Seattle in 1984, and finally Dallas in 2001. These locations are all in operation today.
Beginning in 1995, we started our smoked seafood business that now includes category leaders Echo Falls, LASCco, and Nathan’s brands.
In 2020, our Alaska processing operations were merged with Icicle Seafoods Alaska salmon and Gulf of Alaska groundfish operations to form OBI Seafoods. Ocean Beauty Seafoods retained its distribution network and value-added and smoked seafood brands. In 2024, our Smoked Seafood division rebranded as Echo Falls Seafoods, establishing our Smoked and Distribution divisions as two distinct business operations. We carry on the tradition of distributing wild Alaska seafood with direct access through OBI Seafoods, selling smoked seafood through Echo Falls, and producing our own extensive lines of value-added seafood products.
